Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. This is entry level training work performed within an assigned geographical area learning the technical and procedural actions used to determine compliance with Pennsylvania certification, accreditation, licensing, and work practice laws and regulations, and in the inspection and analysis of bedding, upholstery, and stuffed toys. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Ride along with Inspectors and Supervisor to learn how to perform inspections and attend training sessions with Supervisor. Assist with inspections of locations that make, store or sell new or secondhand bedding, upholstered items, and stuffed toys, such as factories, furniture, bedding, stuffed toy and secondhand retail stores, upholstery shops and auctions to determine compliance relating to registration, labeling, sterilization, and disinfection as they relate to the rules, regulations, laws, etc. enforced/adopted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Assist with inspections of records/ledgers and processes required for sterilization and disinfection that are required to be maintained by renovators, secondhand dealers, rental facilities and auctioneers. Assist with conducting tests utilizing an ultra-violet detecting device for the chemical disinfection process and analyze the results. Assist with inspections of asbestos and lead abatement sites and assist with audits of asbestos and lead-based paint training courses to ensure compliance with the rules, regulations, laws, etc. enforced/adopted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Assist with orders for removal of non-certified workers and recommend to Supervisor the termination of the work activity, if work practice violates the applicable law and regulations. Assist in responding to inquiries regarding inspection guidelines, procedures and practices. Assist in interpreting state laws and regulations for training providers, contractors and the general public. Assist with actions to be taken against violators and initiating court prosecution requests. Prepare detailed reports of inspections and investigations. Complete a daily log and monthly report of activities performed. Travel to inspection sites in remote locations. Perform other related work as required. |
