Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is supervisory and technical work in the planning, lay out, installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, components, and fixtures for air, gas, oil, water, steam, irrigation, waste disposal, and other related systems. An employee in this job supervises and participates in skilled and technical plumbing and pipefitting duties. Work involves assigning, scheduling, and supervising individuals involved in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and piping systems, fixtures, and components; overseeing, assigning, and executing a preventative maintenance schedule, work orders, and plumbing projects; and recommending and implementing procedures, methods, and tools to accomplish this work. Work also involves reviewing and approving a course of action on projects involving unique parameters for lay out and installation; maintaining an inventory of parts, equipment, and tools; estimating plumbing project costs; and maintaining documentation in reports, tracking systems, and blueprint and schematic repositories. Work is performed independently and reviewed through reports, discussions, and inspections by a higher-level manager. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 1. • Work is differentiated from the lower-level job by directly supervising subordinate Plumbers and other trades and maintenance employees performing work in the lay out, installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, components, and fixtures. Performs the full range of supervisory duties. 2. Evaluates, prioritizes, and assigns to subordinate staff routine and specialized installation, repair, and maintenance work orders. 3. Ensures all plumbing systems are installed and repaired in compliance with trades methods, quality and efficiency standards, manufacturing guidelines, regulations, codes, and project objectives. 4. Troubleshoots and resolves complex or unique replacement and repair work orders such as those not specifying equipment and operations accurately or clearly on blueprints or drawings. 5. Resolves or mitigates conflicts regarding sequencing of work and unforeseen conditions during a project; establishes and implements related recovery plans. 6. Coordinates with other trades supervisors and management on plumbing work and resources necessary for renovation and construction projects. 7. Develops and communicates procedures for tool access, maintenance, and tracking. 8. Maintains knowledge of regulations and codes critical to the maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing and piping systems; and communicates relevant information to subordinates. 9. Approves and procures parts for the repair and installation of mechanical equipment. 10. Develops plumbing project plans, to include estimating costs, time, labor, and materials, that are within scope and budget parameters. 11. Plans, delivers, and oversees the technical training of Plumbers and other subordinate trade staff for plumbing and pipefitting duties. Ability to read and interpret HVAC, architectural, plumbing, and electrical system blueprints and schematics 12. Researches and recommends replacement plumbing and piping systems and materials based on building and environmental needs. 13. Ensures repairs, replacement, or installation of plumbing components are accurately documented in reports, tracking systems, and blueprints or schematics. 14. Solicits and oversees contracted services within budget and decision-making parameters. 15. Participates in the performance of subordinates’ work and other trades’ tasks consistent with operational or organizational requirements. 16. Operates motor vehicles. 17. Performs related work as required. |
