Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is located in the Division of Facilities Support. It performs maintenance and repair work on automotive and related equipment at Fort Indiantown Gap.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Perform major and minor automotive repairs. Overhaul and perform preventive maintenance on gasoline and diesel engines, including fuel injection systems of gasoline powered engines. Repair, rebuild, and replace worn or broken parts of gasoline and diesel engines.

Repair, overhaul, and perform related work on gasoline and diesel engines and equipment such as backhoes, loaders, sickle bars, and other big tractors. Perform necessary repairs and services on riding and push mowers, chain saws, gas generators and gas-driven pumps.

Repair major and minor mechanical defects in Commonwealth fleet vehicles. Repair or replace parts such as shock absorbers, transmissions, clutches, brakes, etc.

Test gasoline and diesel engines to diagnose cause of defective operations or mechanical failure.

Perform preventive maintenance as needed on vehicles by ensuring proper levels of oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, antifreeze/coolant, replacing filters, etc.

Perform minor body repair work and painting of vehicles.

Inspect power-driven vehicles for safety and compliance to regulations.

Prepare records and reports on repairs and status of vehicles.

Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor.

Prepare quotes and order parts as needed, with supervisors approval.

Perform other related duties as required.

**Must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.**
