Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position's purpose is to allow forestry students to gain experience with the Bureau of Forestry and learn about the varied work duties of the forester staff. This will be accomplished by assisting the forester and forest technician staff with land management activities including; timber sale layout and marking, deer fence maintenance, recreational trail maintenance, collecting vegetation plot data, treating invasive plants, assisting with service forestry activities, and various other related duties. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 1. Timber Management: * Assist the foresters and technicians with surveying timber sale boundaries, haul roads, and regeneration project areas * Assist the foresters and technicians with timber marking, tallying, and stand analysis plots. * Assist the foresters and technicians with painting timber sale and regeneration project boundaries. 2. Assist the district staff with surveying with GPS miscellaneous roads, trails, boundary corners, buildings, etc... and use ArcGIS to update the district's GIS data. 3. Assist the district maintenance staff with maintenance and construction as needed. 4. Assist the forester staff with the treatment of invasive plant species. 5. Assist the forester staff with the collection of vegetation plot data. 6. Assist the district with prescribed fire. * There may be opportunity to gain relevant fire training. 7. Assist the district service forester with various forest stewardship programs. 8. Other duties as assigned that will give an opportunity to gain relevant experience. |
