Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Assists recreation forester with inspection of leased forest campsites and assists in the collection of field data for recreational trail layout and mapping. Assists foresters by tallying and marking timber. Assists forest operations and maintenance staff in completing daily tasks. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. : RECREATION a. Assist recreation forester with inspection of leased campsites. Convey information regarding camp issues to forester for appropriate response. b. Survey and plot leased camp boundaries and recreation trails utilizing GPS technology. Mark campsite boundaries. c. Assist Forester with layout and marking of recreational trails. d. Work with forest technicians and/or maintenance repairman for the execution of projects planned by foresters. These projects may include such things as trail maintenance, deer fence maintenance, tree planting, timber marking, seed collection, wildlife habitat management and prescribed burns. e. Assist with infrastructure projects with District staff f. Assist professional staff on managing computer based databases and developing internal upgrades to digital information within the Forest District. Timber Management a. Obtain timber volumes by marking and/or cruising as prescribed by the forester in charge of the sale. b. Surveys and marks timber sale boundaries, herbicide spray blocks and planting sites laid out by a forester utilizing GPS technology. Plots surveys and draws appropriate maps for approval of a forester. Cooperative Forest Management a. Assists Service Forester with private landowner initiatives and educational programs. Forest Fire Protection a. Assists with forest fire protection, pre-suppression and post suppression activities. b. Conducts Forest Fire Prevention Programs |
