Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is responsible for performing technical wildlife support work in the Division of Conservation, Vertebrate Wildlife Section, at Fort Indiantown Gap (FIG) and other DMVA lands.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Conduct field research, flora, fauna, terrestrial, and stream habitat surveys (e.g. herp surveys, breeding bird surveys, aquatic surveys, invasive species surveys, and related).

Collect, enter, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data and prepare field and season reports. Assist in the collection, tracking, recording, and processing of biological data for wildlife studies. Conduct assigned wildlife and habitat surveys and collects data and specimens for further analysis. Assist with on-the-ground conservation projects (i.e. prescribed fire and grassland restoration).

Implement habitat improvement and utilize land management techniques (grassland restoration, invasive plant species control, erosion control, vegetation management, habitat improvement, GPS/GIS, prescribed fire, and basic conservation practices).

Perform wildfire suppression related duties such as responding to and assisting in fighting wildfires. Assist with implementation of the department’s prescribed burn program

Assist with the Integrated Training Area Management Program.

Operate, repair, and maintain various field and laboratory equipment.

Assist with the Department’s Outdoor Recreation Program and data collection.

Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor. Coordinate field work with office activities and telework effectively.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
