Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The purpose of this position is for the selected candidate to gain experience in the management and administration of state forests in Pennsylvania, specifically the Elk State Forest. The internship will be based out of the Forest District Office and the selected candidate will be introduced to the different program areas as time allows during the field season. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. The selected candidate will be introduced to the following duties and responsibilities: 1. Timber management and cruising 2. Regeneration fund projects 3. Forest pest management activities 4. Wildfire prevention and suppression activities 5. Forest recreation projects 6. Service forestry, private land stewardship 7. Invasive plant management 8. Oil and gas development activities |
Decision Making: Describe the types of decisions made by the incumbent of this position and the types of decisions referred to others. Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature. 1.
