Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Perform on-site inspections to obtain experience in the breeding sources, nesting areas, and habits of animal and insect pests, and apply proper controlling agents to the areas of infestation. Apply pesticides following standard practices, and install special devices, equipment, and traps to control or eliminate vector infestation. Inspect garbage and trash disposal areas, drainage grids, and screens for regular removal of sanitary wastes in order to prevent, reduce, or eliminate vector infestation. Collect and identify disease carrier vectors such as: mosquitoes, lice, fleas, ticks, scorpions, wasps, fire ants, other insects, poisonous snakes, other reptiles, raccoons, bats, and other wild animals. Maintain safe custody, storage, and disposal of pesticides, rodenticides, and related equipment and devices. Follow oral and written instructions on mixing and applying proper concentrates according to pesticide label directions. Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on a variety of equipment used in the control of pests, weeds and insects. Use herbicides to control weeds in areas where non-chemical control is not possible or practical i.e., parking lots, areas around mowing obstructions, fence lines, ammunition bunkers, lights, airstrip pads, fuel lines, and drainage ditches. Use boring equipment, structural injectors, and other tools and equipment to gain access to internal or subterranean spaces for such pesticide applications as termite control. Perform snow removal. Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor. Our goals will be achieved by continuing our focus on injury reduction through education and accountability. Perform other related duties as required. **Must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.** |
