Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is a scientific and technical intern position that assists in planning and conducting comprehensive, waterbody surveys as needed for the monitoring and assessment of surface waters of the Commonwealth, including those subject to oil and gas exploration. |
Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 1. Learn to and assist in conducting comprehensive waterbody surveys as needed for the monitoring and assessment of surface waters of the Commonwealth. 2. Learn to and assist with maintaining water quality monitoring equipment, including continuous water quality monitors utilized to monitor surface waters. 3. Learn to and assist with maintaining, assessing, and integrating data collected from monitoring efforts including GIS and standard Microsoft Office applications. 4. Learn to and assist in laboratory processing of benthic macroinvertebrate and fish samples collected as part of waterbody surveys. 5. Overnight travel may be required. 6. All intern work will be reviewed by the Supervisor. |
