Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Provides a full range of psychological services to chronically and severely mentally ill consumers in an inpatient hospital setting under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist.
The major and different focus of service for this position is the provision of therapy which builds on a person's strengths and interests to maintain and enhance present level of function. The assessment emphasis is on level of function and cognitive
integrity.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

1. Represents the Psychological Services on multidisciplinary treatment team where treatment needs and problems of consumers are assessed, goals are set, and specific treatment approaches to meet those goals are formulated into individual treatment plans.

2. Administers psychological testing by utilizing techniques measuring intelligence, organic impairment, dangerousness, competence, personality, and emotional and mental functioning as an aid to more accurate psychiatric diagnosis and treatment planning.

3. Provides psychotherapy by utilizing techniques adapted to the needs and functioning level of the consumer including supportive intervention and a variety of approaches to improve the functional abilities of the consumers, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, remotivation therapy, reality orientation and cognitive therapy.

4.Develops and conducts DBT therapy and Trauma informed programs for consumers in the restorative service area in collaboration with other disciplines.

5.Participates on multi-disciplinary team to assess, recommend, and conduct needed treatment. Substance abuse programs are to be integrated with treatment/rehabilitation interventions for other co-occurring psychiatric disorders.

6.Performs patient risk assessments, develops Crisis plans and behavioral plans using hospital-approved methodology.

7.Functions as a member of a treatment team by:
Attending team meetings as permitted by schedule
Contributing information necessary to the treatment planning process.
Implementing his/her particular area of the plan.
Providing direct patient care
Participating in individual and/or group programs provided to consumers using an integrated multidisciplinary approach.
Providing feedback of progress to the consumer and the other team members.
Revising the plan as needed.
Participating in the review of consumer incidents.

8. Documents results of all evaluative procedures and records the progress of consumers in therapy in the consumer's clinical chart in accordance with hospital policy and Medicare requirements.

9. Attends meetings of the Psychology Service, supervisory meetings with supervisor, and hospital-wide special purpose committee meetings in order to comply with departmental and hospital policy.

10. Attends regular in-service training programs relevant to Psychological Services and out-service programs as appropriate in order to improve professional expertise.

11. Provides age-specific and functional level specific psychological interventions for needs based on the integration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to young, middle, and older adults.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned in order to provide support to the psychological program. Purpose standards will be given at the time of each assignment.

Decision Making:

Makes clinical decisions regarding psychotherapeutic approaches for assigned patient treatment. Recommends group and individual treatment programs and chooses assessment measures contingent upon problem definition. Supervision is provided by a licensed psychologist.

Essential Functions

 1. Develops active treatment programs. Provides timely Crisis Plans as part of the CSP process.
 2. Administers psychological diag. measures and reports results; writes assessments
 3. Clinically competent to provide psychological assessments and interventions
 4. Provides individual psychotherapy/counseling; provides group psychotherapy/group psychoeducation.
 5. Essential employee-works as required, subject to emergency operations
 6. Contributes to formulation of ITP.
 7. Obtains and maintains Crisis Intervention and CPR Certification and appropriately utilizes skills
 8. Collaborates effectively as a team member with the Department and with other disciplines
 9. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Reads, writes, communicates orally in English
 10. Work overtime as required; subject to emergency call-in
