Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The major and differentiating focus of service for this position is the provision of therapy which builds on a person's strengths and interests to maintain and possibly enhance present level of function. The assessment emphasis is on level of function and cognitive integrity.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Specific duties include:
1. Represents the Psychological Services on multidisciplinary treatment teams where treatment needs and problems of consumers are assessed, goals are set, and specific treatment approaches to meet those goals are fomulated into individual treatment plans.
2. Administers psychological testing by utilizing techniques measuring intelligence, organic impairment, dangerousness, competence, personality, and emotional and mental functioning as as aid to more accurate psychiatric diagnoses and treatment planning.
3. Provides psychotherapy by utilizing techniques adapted to the needs and functioning level of the consumer including supportive intervention and a variety of approaches to improve the functional abilities of consumers, including remotivation therapy, reality orientation and cognitive remediation.
4. Develops and conducts remotivation therapy and cognitive remediation programs for consumers in the restorative service area in collaboration with other disciplines.
5. Participates on multi-disciplinary team to assess and conduct education and treatment. Substance abuse programs are to be integrated with treatment/rehabilitation interventions for other co-occurring psychiatric disorders.
6. Performs patient risk assessments and develops crisis plans using hospital-approved methodology.
7. Functions as a member of a Treatment Team by:
Attending team meetings as permitted by schedule or as required by the team

. Contributing information necessary to the treatment planning process.
. Implementing his/her particular area of the plan.
. Providing direct patient care as assigned by the treatment team leader.
. Participating in individual and/or group programs provided to patients using
an integrated multidisciplinary approach.
. Providing feedback of progress to the patient and the other team members.
. Revising the plan as needed.
. Participating in the review of patient incidents.
8. Documents the results of all evaluative procedures and records the progress of consumers in therapy in the consumer's clinical chart in accordance with hospital policy and Medicare requirements. As a doctoral level licensed psychologist, performs Medicare billing where appropriate.
9. Attends meeting of the Psychology Service, supervisory meetings with the supervisor, and hospital-wide special purpose committee meetings in order to comply with departmental and hospital policy. May be called upon to mentor Psychology staff in the administration and interpretation of various tests.
10. Attends regular in-service training programs relevant to Psychological Services and out-service programs as appropriate to improve professional expertise.
11. Provides formal documented assessment of consumers whose annual ITP's are due for review. Documents the results of assessments to include consumer needs, strengths, and treatment recommendations as to potential for danger to self or others and environmental controls; i.e., minimum level of restrictiveness necessary. Records in the consumers' records results of such assessments and treatment recommendations. (Assess all consumers due for annual ITP reviews). (Document in patient's record results of assessment of all consumers assessed).
12. Provides age-specific psychological interventions for needs based on the integration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to young, middle, and older adults.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned in order to provide support to the psychological program. Purpose and standards will be given at the time of each assignment.

 7. Contributes to formulation of ITP and CSP; provides timely crisis plans as part of CSP process
 8. Collaborates effectively as a team member with the Department and with other disciplines
 9. Provides mentoring to PSA psychologists with regard to psychological testing
 10. Performs hospital-wide administrative and committee duties
