Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This employee, who is assigned to the Maintenance Department under the supervision of the Facility Operations Supervisor, is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks in several trades. The employee works at a State Mental Health Hospital and receives assignments through Maintenance Work Orders and special oral or written instructions by immediate supervisors and/or Facility Operations Managers.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Performs all facets of general building maintenance repairs, preventative maintenance, and/or necessary building renovations/construction, to Hospital buildings, property, and/or equipment.
Receives work orders from immediate supervisor and completes assigned tasks with other MR2s and/or by assisting other skilled trades classifications.
Installs electric circuits, ballasts, lighting, switches, outlets, circuit breakers, phones, phone cords, etc.
Installs and maintains plumbing, fixtures, pipe and plumbing equipment.
Preps, primes, paints and finishes interior and exterior surfaces.
Installs and finishes drywall, to include measuring, cutting, plastering, spackling and brown-coating.
Installs wood and steel stud framing.
Crafts, fabricates, measures, cuts and installs trim work.
Installs doors, windows, and handrails.
Repairs, replaces, interior and exterior masonry work, including prep, form, pour and finish new masonry work
Completes roof, gutter and down-spout installations and repairs.
Safely uses and maintains saws, planers, sanders, drills, screw-guns, demolition saws, concrete and black-tops saws, power screeders, vibrator and tamper plates, metal working and welding equipment.
Unclogs toilets, sink, showers, sanitary, and storm drains.
Completes assigned preventative maintenances tasks on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc. basis, as appropriate.
Changes air handler filters, inspects, adjusts, and/or replaces belts motors and related equipment on a monthly basis.
Removes snow from sidewalks and parking lots using basic snow removal equipment.
Cleans and organize shop as time permits.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Obtains and maintains CPR certification and utilizes skills as necessary.

Essential Functions

 1. Reads, interprets and comprehends blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, sketches, manufacturer’s operating and maintenance instructions, and COPA/
 2. Performs heavy manual work to maneuver, lift, and carry heavy equipment, materials, and tools up to 50lbs.
 3. Uses powered and non-powered tools.
 4. Reads, writes, and communicates orally in English.
 5. Interprets Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
 6. Completes work in confined areas, indoors and outdoors, at extreme temperatures (both hot and cold), adverse weather conditions, and in dusty condi
 7. Completes work using ladders, hydraulic lifts and scaffolding at various heights.
 8. Works overtime as required; subject to emergency call-in.
 9. Ability to lead a small group of workers to complete assignments when directed to do so.
 10. Will be required to drive on and off campus in a state vehicle
