Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This position requires skills in but not limited to carpentry, equipment repair, equipment operation, concrete work, plumbing, electrical, painting, grounds keeping, small engine repair, welding and lead worker responsibilities. Carpentry Skills include but are not limited to the construction of projects from blueprints or verbal instructions. The repairs to Commonwealth buildings include structure repairs to walls and interior partitions, replacing doors and locks, and installation of new roofs. Work may also require the replacement of broken windows by removing broken glass and re-glazing new windows in frame and painting, installing molding and caulking, using carpentry hand tools. Construction and repairs to various wood projects such as signs, picnic tables and benches, shelving, support braces, interior partitions, doors, rain gutters, soffit and fascia. This work is to be accomplished with the use of hand tools and power tools including radial saws, planers, jointers, power hand saws, routers, jig saws. This position requires skills in but not limited to carpentry, equipment repair, equipment operation, concrete work, plumbing, electrical, painting, groundskeeping, small engine repair, welding and leadworker responsibilities. Carpentry Skills include but are not limited to the construction of projects from blueprints or verbal instructions. Work may also require the replacement of broken windows by removing broken glass and reglazing new windows in frame and painting, installing molding and caulking, using carpentry hand tools. Construction and repairs to various wood projects such as signs, picnic tables and benches, shelving, support braces, interior partitions, doors, rain gutters, soffit and fascia. This work is to be accomplished with the use of hand tools and power tools including radial saws, planers, jointers, power hand saws, routers, jig saws, sanders and gas power generators. Equipment operating skills include but are not limited to the operation of park and regional swing equipment as well as rental and borrowed equipment from other agencies. Operates various 1/2 and 3/4 ton pick-ups to haul, transfer, tow and plow snow during winter storm operations. Operates and maintains heavier equipment during large landscaping projects and during flood debris removal including a Dozer, Back hoe, Loader, Vemeer 665A Stump Grinder, Skid Steer, Bobcat toolcat and . Also operates and maintains various ride-on mowing tractors, snowmobile, snow throwers, chainsaws, power washers, hand mowers, trimmers, pruners, and wood chippers. Also operates an F550 Dump with plow and tailgate spreader during the winter to keep parking areas clear and safe for winter activites. Concrete skills include but are not limited to the operation of concrete equipment including cement mixer, concrete vibrator and paddle finish float. Mixes and pours concrete following blueprints, drawings or sketches while installing playground equipment, shelters, signs, kiosks, bulletin boards, footings, floors, pads, gates retainer walls, and related concrete work. This work includes the installation of concrete forms, form bracing and installations of reinforcing rod and mesh. Lays blocks, bricks, chinking and repairs and replaces damaged masonry using masonry tools. Plumbing skills include but are not limited to installing and maintaining various plumbing fixtures, repairing and installing copper, pex, galvanized and plastic water and wastewater lines which includes finding leaks and removing damaged pieces and replacing with new parts or fixtures using tools of the trade. Opens blocked drains and repairs leaky fixtures. Prepares, winterizes and dewinterizes multiple buildings and water systems throughout the complex. Assists with winterizing and dewinterizing wastewater plants in the park. Electrical skills include but are not limited to the use of AC and DC electrical testing equipment and related connecting devices. Installs both rough and finish wiring in buildings throughout the complex. Replaces defective electrical devices such as switches, receptacles, breakers, photo cells, motion sensors, motors, fans, light fixtures, control boxes, and wiring and electrical devices for vehicles and trailers. Installs main power services and runs new electric lines above and below ground from written and verbal instructions. Replaces and maintains electric service boxes and pedestals in the campground. Painting skills include but are not limited to painting interior and exterior walls, floors, doors, signs, gates, bulletin boards, kiosks, pavilions, and other structures throughout the complex. Work is accomplished using various brushes, rollers, and electric paint sprayers. Work includes the removal of old paint, rust etc. with sanding, wirebrushing and sand blasting equipment. Groundskeeping skills include but are not limited to the maintenance of all turf areas, reseeding of damaged areas, seeding of construction areas, the removal of hazardous trees, planting and pruning trees, flowers, and landscaping shrubs throughout the complex. Work includes mowing trails, trimming weeds, treating and removal of invasive plant species in wooded areas and in the overnight and day use areas of the park complex. Mechanical skills include but are not limited to repair and maintenance of small engines such as mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, outboard motors and generators. Performs routine and minor maintenance to park vehicles and equipment by greasing fittings, checking, filling and changing fluids and filters, performing basic auto body repairs, and repairs flat tires. Performs preventative maintenance to all equipment as required by technical manuals and Commonwealth policies as well as maintains automotive maintenance records. Welding skills include gas, stick, and mig welding repairs to include repair of mower decks, metal gates, grills, and grates. Removes litter, collects trash and recyclables, and cleans-up after flood events in the park. Lead worker skills include but are not limited to the leading of seasonal maintenance staff in minor work projects, major maintenance projects as well as daily work assignments. Assigns work details in the absence of the maintenance supervisor. Also assists with maintaining automotive records, automotive maintenance records, well, beach and wastewater sample records as required by DEP and DOH. Performs accurate measurements of fuels in storage, recommends purchases of equipment and supplies and maintains technical manuals for equipment. Notifies supervisor of progress, problems, and needs. Makes suggestions for solving related problems. Assist with maintaining inventory and records. Obtain and maintain necessary certifications and licenses. Such as pesticide applicator and pool operator's license. Communicates general park information to visitors when needed. Responds to emergencies by following procedures in Emergency Manual. Assists in lost-person searches, fire suppression, etc. Performs any and all other related maintenance duties as required. |
