Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Assist park staff in various projects while gaining experience in park operations, resource management, administration and environmental education. Gain an understanding of the mission and services provided by the Bureau of State Parks.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Intern will work at both the Park Region 3 office as well as a number of state park field sites within the south central portion of the state (region 3), and possibly other assignments throughout the state.

Work with region and park staff to learn how to direct a maintenance program to insure park grounds, structures, facilities, and equipment are properly maintained. Assist and gain and understanding in directing all park recreational and educational activities to insure optimum use of facilities and visitor safety.

Engage with the visiting public through contacts both in the office and field. Provide outstanding customer service to ensure a memorable and safe visit. Gain an understanding of the Bureau’s management plans and directives and how they guide day to day decision making. Learn how staff participates in law enforcement activities using the Crimes Code, Vehicle Code and Fish and Game laws within State Parks. Make contacts with public to ensure that State Park rules and regulations are upheld.
