Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. This position is responsible for the fair and equitable collection of delinquent taxes by communicating, verbally or in writing, the application of the Commonwealth's tax laws, rules, and regulations to taxpayers or their representative. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Provides customer service to taxpayers, accountants, attorneys, or other taxpayer representatives via a telephone and electronic communication. Explains to taxpayers, accountants, attorneys, or other taxpayer representatives the application of various tax laws, rules and regulations. Checks all computer systems for the status of all the taxpayer’s accounts. Determines tax liability and computes penalty and interest as applicable. Creates statement of accounts for taxpayers or their representatives. Reviews various documents submitted by the taxpayer, along with departmental files, to resolve questions regarding the taxpayer’s account. Determines if tax returns were correctly filed and advises taxpayer or makes adjustments to the taxpayer’s account. Refers taxpayers’ accounts to the appropriate bureau by using internal departmental systems for corrections. Refers taxpayers to appropriate bureau/forms to close accounts. Initiates the generation of correspondence to request information regarding the taxpayer's account or to explain the application of tax laws, rules, regulations, and procedures to the taxpayer's particular situation. Provides assistance and guidance to taxpayers in the completion of various tax forms and explain the procedures for filing the documents. Assists the bureau in completion of special projects as requested. Demonstrates a commitment to the service-oriented culture of the department. Applies LEAN thinking in day-to-day tasks. Is mindful of internal controls and risk management when changes are made to a process. Treats others equitably and adheres to diversity and inclusion program requirements in the workplace. Performs related work as required. |
