They will safeguard the facility and its property against fire, theft and vandalism, maintaining order among consumers, employees and visitors. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Compliance with all facility operating instructions and regulation to include the Safety/Security Manual, related policies, and procedures, DSH Fire Rules and Regulations, Emergency Operation Manual, and special orders. Comply with DHS, DOH, and CMS regulations policies and procedures. Ability to perform patrol duties on foot or by vehicle, run, walk, climb stairs to attic to gain access to motor rooms, climb ladders and traverse difficult terrain. Safety department staff are responsible for clocking in and out appropriately using KRONOS and submitting time request appropriately using SAP/KRONOS. Maintains a daily patrol log of activities in chronological order, and reviews other logs and communications daily. Completes incident reports and associated documentation where required for all desk and patrol duties. Completes all required safety department daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork. Conducts safety and security related inquires and completes documentation. Respond to all fire alarms, emergencies, disasters, codes, and any bomb threats on campus. Escort and assist emergency response agencies on campus. Monitor fire alarm system and respond to troubles and alarms on campus. Perform fire watches on campus when required. Assist Fire and Safety Marshal with annual fire alarm system test and inspection. Assists Fire and Safety Marshal with monthly fire extinguisher inspections. Perform monthly safety inspections in buildings on campus looking for safety and fire hazards. Assists with confined space air monitoring, as needed. Assist Fire and Safety Marshal with performing fire drills. Assist Safety Manager with annual AWOL drill, Active Assailant drill, Severe Weather drill, and any other drills that may take place. Takes corrective actions to ensure that all safety hazards are corrected. Distribute keys to staff, visitors, and vendors. Assist with new employee, student, and intern orientation by taking photos, assigning keys, and obtaining vehicle registration information. To provide desk duty, and patrol duty either by vehicle, foot patrol, or all-terrain vehicle. Patrols hospital grounds, completing checks of all areas and providing access control and interior and exterior building and door checks. Patrol and check all parking areas to ensure vehicles are secure and parked correctly, monitor traffic on campus, enforcing all traffic and parking rules and regulations. NCSTU Fence and perimeter checks. Respond to all fire alarms and all building assists in NCSTU units. Lock and secure doors after hours in NCSTU. Conducts searches of consumers, visitors, employees as well as property searches where required. Secure transport of consumers and staff as required for appointments, legal proceedings, hearings, and other transportation needs. Security Officers will be required to be in possession of a current valid Pennsylvania Drivers License. Officers will be trained in CPR/AED certification as well as MANDT training. Supervision will be directed through the Security Officer 2 and Safety Manager by general discussion, posted instruction and periodic conferences. Work will be reviewed through inspection, document review and on-site observation. Search for and return AWOL consumers. Security will run all AWOLs in the absence of the Safety Manager, Security Officer 2 or Fire and Safety Marshal. Operate all communication gear assigned to the department. Responsible for calling in maintenance for emergency repair issues. In the absence of the Safety Manager, Fire and Safety Marshal or Security Officer 2, security staff are responsible for monitoring weather during OUT card times, and are responsible for the cancellation of OUT cards in inclement weather, and monitoring weather conditions and contacting the garage for snow/ice removal in inclement weather. Picking up staff at their home to bring them to work at the direction of the CEO, COO, or executive staff. Escorting visitors throughout campus, inside and outside. Operate the communication center, and complete and update all required paperwork and documentation Receive and transfer phone calls Call codes using overhead speaker system and radios Assign vehicles for transports, as needed Hand out keys and radios as needed Check in visitors & contractors, updating database as required Search items brought in by visitors, completing contraband search log Performs additional duties as directed by the Security Officer 2, Safety Manager, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Executive staff member or the Administrator on Call. |
