Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position is within the Bureau of Information and Communication Services (BCIS) and serves as a driver for the Department's Mobile Command Posts (MCP) holding a Pennsylvania Commercial Class A Driver's License (or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment in this position) with both the Air Brake Type “L” and Type “O” restriction lifted. This position also assists in the Operation/Maintenance/Technical Support of the Department’s Mobile Command Posts/Fixed Command Posts/Joint Operations Centers. This position assists with operation/support of any/all technical equipment related to the Mobile Command Posts including the installation and configuration of all software/hardware related to the Department MCPs to include the Cisco network equipment, desktop PCs, and laptops, as well as any other technology. This position will also include the receiving, shipping and inventory control of materials stored at the work location. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Must be available outside of scheduled working hours for deployment of PSP Mobile Command Posts, Fixed Command Posts and Joint Operations Centers which may necessitate shift changes and extended working hours as needed to ensure operational needs and priorities are met. 20%- Is point of contact for all shipments received at job location, notifies appropriate personnel upon receipt of deliveries, logs and tracks all inventory, may be asked to assist in development of inventory tracking/locator system at job location. Organizes/surpluses old or expired equipment as needed. 15% - Serves as driver /operator of the PSP Mobile Command Posts and is responsible for their set-up/teardown when deployed. This position will be responsible for the operation/maintenance/support of the technical equipment contained with the MCPs to ensure the vehicles are in a high state of readiness at all times. This will include the ability to meet all communication IT related needs of Command Staff. This also includes high profile PSP details when BCIS has a role regardless of MCP deployment where a Fixed Command Post or Joint Operations Center is required. This position shall also have a thorough understanding of PSP software application to include but not limited to: RMS, CAD, CLEAN, MDT, GIS, JNET and VPN software. 15% - Serves as operator/supporter of technical equipment to include any/all radio equipment (including but not limited to: Low Band, VHF, UHF, 700/800 MHZ, P25 Systems); desktop computers, laptop computers and networked computer systems; ACU1000 Channel Patching Equipment; Video Monitoring Equipment; Polycom Video Conferencing Equipment; Aviation Video Downlink Equipment; Eventide Recorders; Switches; Telecommunications Equipment (Verizon, AT&T Cellular Lines; Network Access); Satellite Equipment (Tactical Satellite Phone Lines; Network Access); ICS Outrigger System which extends the Network (Computers. Phones, Fax, Aviation Video Downlink) from MCP to a fixed structure up to 1000 feet; Wireless P.A. Address System; Shoreline Power; 25k +/- Generators; Axon MVRs and Body Worn Cameras and associated software/programming; Toughbooks, CodeRED, FirstNet mini-CRD, Fotokite or other Tethered Drone, and Tablet Devices, configure and test FirstNet Fusion via the Radio over IP (ROIP) kit. 10% - Installs, configures and maintains MCP Network equipment and software. Monitors the performance of the network software and hardware. Monitors system resources, resolves system performance issues, and ensures system availability. Effectively and efficiently utilizes tool sets to maintain a stable operating environment. Provides technical assistance to contractor to ensure that system monitoring functions can be implemented, and system operations can be verified. 10% - Responsible for managing, implementing, and configuring Microsoft security patches, updates and service packs for the MCPs. Test and installs Microsoft security patches, updates and service packs to ensure compatibility with existing software. Determines which Microsoft security patches, updates and service packs need to be installed to ensure maximum protection while maintaining optimal system performance. Test and installs antivirus signature file updates to ensure compatibility with existing software. Determines the appropriate antivirus configuration settings to ensure maximum protection while maintaining optimal system performance. 10% - Installs, configures and maintains routers, switches, hubs, and UPS Devices to ensure high network performance and integrity. 5% - When deployed, acts as inter-department liaison to BCIS Staff to ensure smooth operation and requests are fulfilled during high profile details. 5% -Assists with teaching/instructing members and civilians on the proper use if any/all radio equipment to include but not limited to: MCP equipment, Dispatch Consoles, Mobile and Portable Radios, and DVRS's. 5% - Assists in installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows servers and server operating systems for BCIS building security system. Travels and responds, sometimes after hours, for technical assistance/support on an as needed basis. Performs other related duties as assigned. 5%- Performs other related duties as required. |
