Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

 Oversees and monitors the delivery of psychological services, for an assigned State Correctional Institution (SCI), within the Department of Corrections.

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Performs full range of supervisory duties in consultation with LPM/RLPM and DSCS.

Monitors the delivery of psychological services within an assigned SCI.

Communicates clinical or performance issues of Psychological Services Specialist (PSS) to LPM/RLPM.

Collaborates with LPM/RLPM, when needed, in developing and monitoring POA’s associated with RLPM Quarterly Audits and Annual OPS Inspections, Clinical Supervision (i.e., for follow through with corrective action, if needed), Clinical and Legal Reviews of Suicide, etc.

Responsible for maintaining a master list of all groups delivered by Psychology staff in the SCI.

Tracking, monitoring, and assigning of required Psychological Evaluations (e.g. Parole, Outside Clearance, Z-Code, Special Program Referrals, etc.), Commutation Psychological Evaluations, DC-551’s, and Sex Offender Programming (SOP) groups. These assignments shall be completed in consultation with the LPM/RLPM and DSCS.

Ensures that Psychology staff members are providing an average of four hours per week of mental health treatment, sex offender, Seeking Safety, and/or those groups align with patient needs identified on IRPs.

Coordinates work related to developing (e.g., assisting with collecting information) a Clinical Review of Suicide/Suicide Attempt, in consultation with LPM/RLPM.

Approves leave, tracks PSS training, and is responsible for initiating discipline of Psychology staff, when appropriate, in collaboration with the LPM/RLPM and DSCS. Especially if LPM/RLPM identifies clinical service delivery concerns that are not being corrected. LPM/RLPM will be kept abreast of corrective actions directed at PSS’s.

Initiates discipline of psychological staff when appropriate in collaboration with DSCS, LPM, or RLPM.
Completes Employee Performance Reviews (EPR) and consults with LPM/RLPM for clinical input into the EPR.

Is responsible for assigned mental health caseload or groups, as directed by LPM or DSCS.

Completes Psychological Evaluations, under the clinical supervision of an LPM/RLPM.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements Profile: Identify any specific experience or requirements, such as a licensure, registration, or certification, which may be necessary to perform the functions of the position. Experience:

One year as a Psychological Services Specialist, DOC (Commonwealth title);

or

Two years of professional experience in the field of psychology and a master's degree in psychology or a closely related field that includes fifteen graduate level credits in psychology or counseling.
