Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. The employee in this position inspects, recommends licensing actions, advises and monitors Assisted Living residential home providers in an assigned geographic area to ensure that they meet licensure standards, are operating in accordance with legal requirements and departmental rules and regulations, and are providing quality assisted living services. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Review licensure application materials of those interested in or participating as providers of Assisted Living residential home programs. Physically inspect the premises and records of potential and participating providers of Assisted Living residential services. Following established guidelines, recommend to the supervisor approval, renewal, or revocation of licensure for potential and participating service providers. Assist public and private agencies and individuals applying for licenses in completing the application process. In answer to inquiries, inform interested parties about the rules and regulations applicable to Assisted Living residential home programs. Ensure that service providers understand and meet programmatic standards and operate in conformity with legal requirements and Departmental rules and regulations. Review written contracts between providers and residents, resident records, informed consent agreements, medical assessments, staffing patterns, menus, and descriptions of services to ensure compliance with published regulations. Investigate complaints and unusual incidents, including deaths, lodged against service providers. After careful review and analysis, determine the need for negative sanctions and/or other corrective or enforcement actions and recommends a course of action to the supervisor. Interact with officials in state, county, and local agencies to provide and to gain information on legal requirements, regulations, and standards relevant to the operation of an Assisted Living residence for adults. As required, testify at hearings regarding enforcement actions or closures. Prepare narrative and statistical reports on licensing and monitoring activities. Perform related work as required. |
