Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Design, implement, and evaluate activities for residents to enhance and retain their optimum levels of functioning in the following areas: mental, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical. Plan, organize, and conduct or assist with various on and off ground activities and recreation programs, including set up and transportation. Monitor and document residents' behavior and participation. Assess residents' functioning levels, strengths, needs, interests, and abilities. Participate with the team in the development of individual program plans to meet individual needs. Monitor and report resident progress to the team. Provide individual instruction, direction, and general oversight to non-professional personnel and volunteers in the conduct of individual and group activities and in the care and use of supplies and equipment. Complete Therapeutic Recreation Assessments, interest surveys, care plan goals, MDS documentation, form 802, and all required documents for residents. Provide individual instruction, direction, and support to residents. Coordinate scheduling of space, equipment, and staff for activities and recreational programs. Ensure quality programming and that projects are carried through to completion. Maintain necessary administrative and clinical records. Transport/escort residents to and from activities using state vehicles. Participate in meetings; take, publish and distribute meeting minutes as required. Requisition supplies and equipment needed. Participate in activities related in-service and out-service training and conduct in-service training for MAAA’s, volunteers, and other facility staff. Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor. Use personal protective equipment when required such as gloves, masks, face shield, etc. Perform other related duties as required. |
