Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. This position acts as an assistant to the Facilities Maintenance Manager. Performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery and equipment. Performs labor indoors and outdoors periodically in adverse conditions. This position is designated Essential. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. MAINTENANCE INSIDE BUILDINGS ELECTRICAL: Perform door repairs to lock bodies, knobs, hinges and door closers. Replace light bulbs, light shades, and light fixtures/components. Replaces wall outlets and light switches. Knowledge and skill in the ability to run electrical circuits (single and three phase). HVAC/MECHANICAL: Contacting contractors regarding scheduling of maintenance and service repairs of mechanical units. Routinely change heat pump filters, clean out condensate lines. Check and report to supervisor on the condition of heat pumps and functionality. Ability to aid in complete replacement of heat pumps. PAINTING/DRYWALL/FINISHES: Ability to competently paint walls, doors, and trim inside and outside of building as well as other substrates Ability to perform drywall work (hanging, plastering, taping, sanding and associated repair). PLUMBING: Open blocked drains, repair leaky faucets, assist in replacing water lines. Change out water closets, assist in changing out toilets and urinals. Performs the cleaning, general maintenance and changing out water heaters. MISCELLANEOUS: Read, interpret and work from pencil sketches/diagrams/building plans. Assists in mentoring and teaching skills to other maintenance crew members. Clean inside main building, shop, and facilities. Performs repair and installation of laying tile and stone on walls and floors. Remove and replace carpet as appropriate and necessary. Clean dryer vents and filters as necessary. Hang and remove pictures. Oil and clean door hinges and door jams, changing/adjusting door closures. OUTSIDE MAINTENANCE/GROUNDS KEEPING LAWN CARE Using basic lawn care tools, power tools, and lawn and outdoor equipment to cut grass, mulch, pull/spray weeds SNOW REMOVAL Perform snow removal using basic snow removal equipment, salt, and pretreat parking lots and sidewalks at Harrisburg complex. MASONARY Performs in the design and building of forms and the pouring, mixing and finishing of concrete. Lay and replace pavers under the direction of supervisor METALWORK Ability to perform welding and small fabrications Ability and knowledge of using metalworking tools (Grinding cutting, brazing) EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE Mower Maintenance Perform daily maintenance and checks of oils and filters daily or as necessary on all maintenance equipment. Routinely check tire pressure, sharpen blades, and cleaning of grounds keeping equipment Perform basic maintenance of other equipment and apparatus used in the maintenance division. WOODWORKING Ability to perform finish carpentry such as cut, sand, stain, finish plaques, shelves, bookcases, map frames, desktops and formica counter tops Performs building and finishing other woodworking projects as needed. Essential Functions 1. Follow oral and written instructions. 2. Operate and maintain equipment and lift heavy objects up to 80 lbs. 3. Work in outdoor areas in all weather conditions including loud noises. 4. Maintain lawns, landscaping and food plots at the PGC HQ building and Haldeman Island complex. 5. Walk, climb, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, sit and stand for extended periods of time while performing projects. 6. Must be able to respond to emergency or unusual situations 24/7 under the agency COOP plan or inclement conditions. 7. Perform duties which require exposure to mechanical and electrical parts. 8. Maintain effective working relationships with PGC employees and outside vendors. 9. Utilize computer with Microsoft Office software and office equipment. Ability to maneuver and operate trucks, trailers, equipment in a safe and orderly manner. 10. Use or operate hand tools in a safe manner (saws, screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches), power tools (drills, saws, sanders, air tools) and mechanized/motorized equipment. 11. Perform duties in a safe manner utilizing PPE when tasks may result in exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; adverse weather conditions or loud noises. 12.
