Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Provides customer service to both our internal and external customers providing internal/external communications utilizing telephone & two-way radio transmissions by directing individual to proper locations, taking information, and screening, documenting, & routing all incoming telephone/radio calls. Maintains a log book recording all incoming information, relating to winter maintenance, including: weather conditions, road conditions, temperature, snow or rainfall, number of trucks & men on snow removal, & communications from the public and PENNDOT personnel. Records all measures taken, by Department Personnel, to either prevent or remedy emergency, storm or accident situations. Coordinates incoming information & takes necessary action to resolve concern or transfer information to the proper individual for customer service response. Maintains records for equipment & operator assignments. Maintains records for employee call outs & contacts employees as directed by supervisors. Coordinates road closure paperwork & contact appropriate personnel & organizations. Monitors weather conditions & contacts appropriate personnel with weather alerts & conditions. Relays weather to radio stations, schools and public. Relays deer kills to proper personnel for pickup. Notifies Mechanic Supervisors when mechanical difficulties are reported. Coordinates communications with State Police, Fire Companies & 911 regarding road conditions. Utilizes telephone, two-way radio, and PC with weather monitoring software to perform job responsibilities. Types, proofreads, and processes various department documents & correspondence utilizing Microsoft Office Software. Files and retrieves materials, stamps & stuffs envelopes, prepares labels, and other general clerical duties as assigned. Recognizing that everyone is involved in the District’s actions to demonstrate sound environmental practices, each employee fulfills the maintenance unit business plan objectives related to the Strategic Environmental Management Program (SEMP). Also, supports the efforts of other employees to meet these objectives. Attends environmental training designated for this Working Title. SAFETY 1. Assess your environment and be responsible for your safety, the safety of co-workers, and the public 2. Attend required safety training and adhere to the requirements of all safety manuals, policies, and laws. 3. Immediately report to your supervisor any incident, unsafe practice, or near miss. 4. When in an enclosed environment (office buildings, confined spaces, flagger stations, equipment pinch points, etc.), know your evacuation process and escape route, your communication protocols, and appropriately react in the event of an incident. SUCCESSION PLANNING Take an active role in succession planning by completing a Career Development Plan in collaboration with the supervisor. In conjunction with the supervisor, participate in knowledge management/transfer by identifying key aspects of the job and sharing explicit and tacit program/technical knowledge with other employees. |
