Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Provides custodial support within County Maintenance Office and surrounding grounds to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Maintains a clean and safe environment. Routine manual cleaning, waxing, dusting, and polishing of floors, windows, furniture, and fixtures. Cleans restrooms and replaces restroom supplies. Maintains outside premises and building entrances. Shovels snow, sweeps and cleans walks. Mows grass and maintains lawn. Disposes of waste paper and other building waste in the correct manner. Performs minor repairs to plumbing, electrical systems within the building and performs minor repairs to the building. Communicates with supervisors and fellow workers each day to accomplish assigned tasks. Maintains professional and courteous disposition toward the traveling public. Work may be performed under a range of weather conditions; including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow or ice; exposure to potential poisonous plants, animals, or insects and a variety of potential injuries such as bruises, cuts, scrapes, strains and sprains. Implements the environmental protection requirements of maintenance work activities performed by the employee. Also fulfills the environmental management requirements designated for this title in environmental training programs. Recognizing that everyone is involved in the District’s and County’s actions to demonstrate sound environmental practices, each employee fulfills the maintenance unit business plan objectives related to the Strategic Environmental Management Program (SEMP). Also, supports the efforts of other employees to meet these objectives. Safety 1 Assess your environment and be responsible for your safety, the safety of coworkers and the public. 2. Attend required safety training and adhere to the requirements of all safety manuals, policies and laws. 3. Immediately report to your supervisor any incident, unsafe practice or near miss. 4. When in an enclosed environment (office buildings, confined spaces, flagger stations, equipment pinch points, etc.) know your evacuation process and escape route, your communication protocols and appropriately react in the event of an incident. Attends environmental training designated for this Working Title. |
