Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is assigned to the Bureau of State Parks, State Park Regional Office # 2, The position reports to the Assistant Regional Manager. This internship will provide a broad exposure to all aspects of state park operations and management. This position will also assist regional staff in various projects while gaining experience in park operations, natural resources management and GIS data gathering and input.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Work with park and region staff to learn how to manage a park's natural resources, which includes the preparation, maintenance and adherence to a park's resource management plans.
Work with park and region staff by interpreting and applying park operation rules, and policies and procedures.
Provide ideas in developing, presenting to employees and insuring implementation of
operating policies, standards and guidelines to manage regional equipment inventory.
Work with park and region staff with preparing letters, reports, and correspondence as required.
Assist with special events and work with volunteers.
Participate in park inspections and swimming beach/pool inspections and complete written reports.
Wear personal protection equipment where required.
Operate a state vehicle from work headquarters to various parks.
Maintains a relationship with other Regional and park staff.
Attend meetings with park staff.
Engage with the visiting public through contacts both in the office and field. Provide outstanding customer service to ensure a memorable visit.
Assist a licensed pesticide applicator in treating invasive species and or participate in the mechanical removal of invasive species.
Performs special projects and other duties as required or assigned.

Intern will work under the direction of the supervisor. The position has considerable
freedom and exercises independent judgment to utilize personal knowledge, skills, technical knowledge, and initiative to attain goals, objectives, and desired results.

Work assignments and projects are often self-generated upon identification of problems or situations. Employee updates supervisor as needed or as scheduled on activities or special issues. Work is reviewed during or upon completion of assignments.

Experience:

1. Must have experience working with the entire suite of Microsoft 365 environment.
2. A knowledge of the outdoors and natural systems is preferred
