Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This Custodial Guide 1/Security position provides a security presence for The State Museum and Archives buildings; monitors video surveillance system; assists in setting up facilities for special events; and performs various cleaning functions. The Custodial Guide 1/Security reports to the Custodial Guide Supervisor.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Provides a presence of security in The State Museum and Archives buildings by patrolling assigned areas; Controls visitors and employees during emergency situations, performs inspections of facilities and completes incident/accident reports as needed;

Provides visitors services by placing stanchions; providing information and directions; and answering questions about the museum; Monitors video surveillance system and fire and security systems; Is alert to weak security points, missing, or damaged artifacts, safety hazards, deficient maintenance, and housekeeping practices;

Responds to alarms and alerts; implement safety, accident, and security procedures;

Required to work during emergencies and/or outside of normal shift if deemed necessary;

Must obtain CPR & First Aid training upon commencement of employment. The State Museum of Pennsylvania and/or PHMC are responsible for the scheduling and payment of this training.

Performs general housekeeping details such as cleaning restrooms, restocking restroom supplies as needed, and floor cleaning/spill cleanups; Assists with program setups and teardowns as needed; Performs other related duties as assigned.

Accompanies and provides access to the fire and security system contractors for quarterly inspections and testing and for repairs and adjustments as needed.

Inspects fire extinguishers and conducts monthly inspections with Kint, Inc.

Inspects all fire extinguishers monthly and initials and dates inspection tag to establish that the extinguisher gauge indicated it was operable.

Inspects and provides reports on emergency exit stairways for lighting, cleanliness, and accessibility on a weekly basis.

Incumbent is responsible to be familiar with PHMC general safety rules and safety rules specific to this position; for working in a safe manner and following all PHMC safety rules; immediately reporting all workplace injuries or incidents to their supervisor, and immediately correcting any safety hazards in the work area or report same to supervisor.

Experience:
