Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position performs skilled plumbing work at the journeyman level in installations, repairs, and maintenance to plumbing and heating systems and equipment at North Central Secure Treatment Unit and works under the direct supervision of the Facility Operations Manager 2, in accordance with standard practices of the plumbing trade. Works from written and oral orders, blueprints, and sketches. Displays considerable knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and safety precautions. Work involves developing plans and estimates for the design and installation and maintenance of plumbing projects. Work includes creating plumbing or pipefitting installations diagrams and drawings. Locating position of pipe installation, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures; performing plumbing and piping installation, repairs and alterations, including testing and inspecting of completed work. Ensuring plumbing related contracted work is performed to specification and industry standards. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Makes repairs to all plumbing and heating systems and their equipment, water main distribution system, laundry equipment, all piping, waste lines, water supply lines to plumbing fixtures, toilets, sinks, temperature controls, pumps, drains and sewer lines by diagnosing problems, replacement of parts, and repairing of equipment, in accordance with the plumbing code and Life Safety Code, in order to provide uninterrupted services safely. Provides installation of plumbing and heating equipment as required in all of the buildings by making installations using sketches, blueprints, and drawings, in order to supply safe, efficient services to buildings for resident and staff use. Maintains all plumbing and heating equipment in accordance with preventive maintenance checklists or work orders, in order to provide well-maintained equipment and mandated documentation of the work performed. Ensures safe working conditions by the practices of present safety procedures, use of safety equipment, and maintain clean, orderly work areas, in order to help prevent unfortunate accidents which could cause injury to persons or property. Assists in planning and job coordination by helping with layout work and working with other trades assigned, in order for a job to run smoothly in a timely, safe manner to its completion. Determines labor, materials, and equipment required to complete a variety of installation, repair and maintenance of projects. Participates in the training or retraining of other employees related to the maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing systems. Operates motor vehicles and other equipment as needed. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities related to plumbing and piping procedures, methods, materials, and practices of the plumbing and the pipefitter trades. Knowledge of the care and use of tools used in the installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems, fixtures and components. Knowledge of flows, pressures and capacity of water tanks and lines. Knowledge of the use and functionality of Microsoft Office Suite software. Ability to troubleshoot issues using diagnostics methods and processes of the plumbing and pipefitting trades. Maintains the knowledge of regulations, codes, utility provider guidelines, materials, installation and testing procedures used in gas and fuel piping systems. Determines time, equipment, labor, and material resources and work methods needed for a variety of installation, repair, and maintenance projects. Locates, identifies, and marks underground utilities necessary for installation and repair projects. Determines the layout, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operation of various piping systems and equipment. Employee will also perform related work as required. |
