Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Assigns caseloads, investigations, to include pre-paroles, pre-transfers, pre-sentences, special investigations, and work assignments in an equitable manner. Reviews all reports written by agents to ensure compliance with agency policy and procedures, and to ensure quality, clarity, and timeliness. Reports are then signed and distributed accordingly. Compiles supervisory level reports as required. Conducts Administrative Conferences with agents, Reentrant, and CRPA's in order to closely follow up on Reentrant's problems and ensure that violations are not repeated. Develops sanctions for Reentrant's to prevent further violations and give Reentrants better insight into their problems. Attends monthly supervisor's meetings and reviews the content of these meetings during regularly scheduled unit meetings. Obtains new information of agency policy and procedures and disseminates to staff so changes may be implemented. Works closely with and trains agents, assists in developing their skills, evaluate their planning, observe the organization of their caseloads, make changes where applicable, and learn from agents how they deal with a myriad of problems. Reviews Case Notes in CAPTOR and compares to agent activity sheets for accuracy and timeliness. Answers phone calls from courts, Reentrants, family members, etc.; takes messages, provides information to callers, and makes referrals over the phone where required. Conducts Employee Performance Reviews with agents, and an annual, written, in-depth performance evaluation is prepared. Provides OJT training for agents. Assists agents in conducting Reentrant and collateral contacts, and investigations (provides constructive criticism and positive reinforcement to enhance agent's skills). Assists agents in collecting urine samples from Reentrants, as necessary. Assists agents in the apprehension, arrest, and transportation of Reentrants, as needed. Travels with agents in the field to assess their various skill sets and make recommendations as appropriate. Reviews daily activity sheets weekly and distributes them. Recommends and authorizes overtime based on workload scores, call outs, and contiguous to shift as appropriate. Reviews overtime requests to ensure requested hours meet standards for contacts made. Maintains extensive administrative controls regarding investigations being conducted, hearings being held, prisoner transfers to be made, reports due, etc. Participates in extensive training to achieve a minimum of 40 hours of training per year, plus additional training to enhance knowledge and become proficient in related areas. Participates in a number of neighborhood/area community action groups to keep in touch with what is happening in assigned area of responsibility and to maintain contact with neighborhood leaders. Establishes liaison with Police Divisions and Districts within supervision boundary area. Develops community resources to be used for referral purposes in drug, alcohol, and mental health treatment of Reentrants. Operates a personal computer to navigate applicable agency applications, input and retrieve information, and communicate by electronic mail. Communicates with members of the public, other law enforcement agencies, and various branches of local, state, and federal government. Participates in the performance of their subordinates' work consistent with operational and organizational requirements, when necessary. Performs the full range of supervisory duties. Performs other related duties as assigned. |
