Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Compiles historical cost and usage data for analysis to assist with the development of work specifications. Performs research including but not limited to right-of-way, contract development, and complaints. Provides recommendations based on data collected regarding work units completed, person-hours spent, equipment utilization, materials usage, herbicide usage, District goals and objectives to assist management staff in the development and management of contracts and plans, ensuring cost effective and efficient maintenance programs. Maintains accurate logs of all completed work for contractor work and analyzes data to provide recommendations to management regarding cost-benefit analysis of department force vs. contractor work. Independently verifies accuracy of contractor billing summaries, identifies billing discrepancies, and works with contractors to correct. Performs a review of vegetation management permits and maintains an accurate database of all approved permits including creating and maintain a map of approved permit locations. Analyzes roadway data to determine accurate acreage estimates and provides recommendations for herbicide utilization to meet planned maintenance activities. Monitors available budget and maintenance materials/equipment and uses Department systems to create shopping carts and/or purchase requisitions; create and enter goods receipts; receive and verify contractor billing. Attends all relevant meetings for roadside and records and maintains all meeting minutes. Maintains all roadside records in accordance with current Department retention policy. Enter and maintain data in various maintenance databases to ensure data integrity. Maintains daily communication with roadside staff and roadside contractors including, but not limited to sending confirmation of services emails to contractors; coordinating the daily work report; compiling the weekly lane close report and responding to both internal and external complaints and requests. Perform field inspection work as needed to cover staff vacancies/absences. Actively participate in the District ICC as a member of the ICC staff responsible for winter storm operations. Performs related duties as assigned. Safety: 1. Assess your environment and be responsible for your safety, the safety of co-workers, and the public. 2. Attend required safety training and adhere to the requirements of all safety manuals, policies, and laws. 3. Immediately report to your supervisor any incident, unsafe practice, or near miss. 4. When in an enclosed environment (office buildings, confined spaces, flagger stations, equipment pinch points, etc.), know your evacuation process and escape route, your communication protocols, and appropriately react in the event of an incident. Succession Planning: Take an active role in succession planning by completing a Career Development Plan in collaboration with the supervisor. In conjunction with the supervisor, participate in knowledge management/transfer by identifying key aspects of the job and sharing explicit and tacit program/technical knowledge with other employees. Department Green Plan Policy: Commit to following the Department’s Green Plan Policy (Pub 712) and the associated principles. Failure to comply with the Department’s Green Plan Policy shall be documented in the employee’s performance review. Fair Labor Standards Act: Unless directed otherwise by your supervisor or manager, comply with stated work hours for the 7.5/8.0-hour day. |
