Position Purpose:

This is technical inspection, enforcement and service work position involving Phorid fly quarantine in Pennsylvania.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

The employee is responsible for inspecting mushroom growing facilities, for compliance with state and federal laws. Assists the Regional Supervisor and Program Specialists with consumer complaints, enforcement follow-up and emergency response.

Inspects mushroom growing facilities to ensure compliance with the Phorid Fly Quarantine.
and pesticide operators regarding quality control procedures and good manufacturing practices.

Assists Regional Supervisor with response to emergency situations affecting mushroom growing facilities

Reviews technical information and attends job-related conferences and training sessions.

Schedules routine work, prepares and submits detailed work records, such as weekly and monthly activity reports, automotive use records and expense accounts.
Demonstrate a commitment to meeting and exceeding expectations of the bureau/program’s customer(s) at all times.

Apply Lean tool(s) to day-to-day tasks when a process has been identified for improvement.
Perform all other duties as assigned or required.


Decision Making:
Describe the types of decisions made by the incumbent of this position and the types of decisions referred to others. Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature.

Employees are supervised by a Plant Industry Regional Supervisor. Work is performed independently under general direction. Work is reviewed through consultation, meetings and a review of written reports.

Determines violations of the Phorid Fly Quarantine, prepares violation reports and treatment orders where applicable.

Provides advice to establishment operators and quality control personnel regarding proper processing and quality control; and ensures that the facility complies with Commonwealth and Federal laws and regulations for both statewide and interstate shipment.

Maximize workday efficiency, and determine prudent courses of action in adverse weather conditions.

Maintain all official documentation in a responsible manner, including timely submission of reports and timesheets.
