Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is responsible for performing the role as the western regional director for the Department of Agriculture.


Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Represents PDA and the Secretary at various events to promote agricultural programs and services within the western part of PA.

Participates in the preparation, implementation and ongoing initiatives of the Department, to include economic development, Ag Business Development Center, food and nutrition programming, technology and innovation, conservation programs and strategic plan.

Promotes and educates the agriculture industry and the public on various departmental programs and initiatives.

Prepares reports and narratives for the executive office providing summaries of events, discussions, key initiatives and follow-up action items needed.

Initiates and facilitates work groups regarding departmental issues and/or concerns

Serves as a liaison with industry partners and stakeholders on departmental issues or concerns within the assigned region.

Conducts meetings and conferences and prepares correspondence to coordinate, explain or resolve issues or concerns relating to interested organizations, the public and stakeholders.

Demonstrate a commitment to meeting and exceeding expectations of the bureau/program's customer(s) at all times.

Apply lean tool(s) to day-to-day tasks when a process has been identified for improvement

Performs other special assignments and projects as assigned.

Decision Making:
Describe the types of decisions made by the incumbent of this position and the types of decisions referred to others. Decisions regarding distribution of workload and duty assignments of staff are made as necessary. Anticipates deadlines, prioritizes and organizes work assignments. Apprises supervisor of difficult of unusual situations.
