Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Semi-Skilled Laborer assigned to Drake Well Museum and Park is responsible for performing manual grounds keeping, maintenance, construction and repair duties on a seasonal basis. The Semi-Skilled Laborer is supervised by the Facilities Operation Supervisor and works cooperatively with the Maintenance Repairman II to ensure site upkeep, efficiency and safety at Drake Well Museum and Park, Historic Pithole City and McClintock Well #1. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Exterior Maintenance: - Performs basic grounds keeping work such as: mowing, trimming, mulching, raking, weed control, and snow removal. - Responsibly operates site vehicles and equipment. - Pick up branches, debris, and litter, and maintain grounds and walkways in clean and safe condition. - Caring for and trimming shrubbery, hedges, and plant beds - Snow removal of parking lots, sidewalks, roadways, and roofs (as necessary) - Performs minor repairs, painting and maintenance (such as gutter cleaning) to exterior fixtures. Equipment Maintenance: - Perform all preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with manufacturer guidelines - Maintenance and operation of all tools, small equipment, and grounds-related equipment (incl. lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc), making minor repairs and adjustments as needed. - Maintenance of all Commonwealth vehicles assigned to the site Interior Maintenance: - Performs minor repair jobs of a routine nature, in various trades including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical. Safety and Security: - Incumbent is responsible to be familiar with PHMC general safety rules and safety rules specific to this position; for working in a safe manner and following all PHMC safety rules; immediately reporting all workplace injuries or incidents to their supervisor; and immediately correcting any safety hazards in the work area or reporting same to supervisor. - Ensures the site is property secured at the end of the day and alarms are functioning properly. - Reacts professionally, calmly, and quickly to all emergency situations. Takes appropriate actions and notifies the proper authorities to bring the situation under control and ensure the safety of visitors. Other: - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, volunteers, and the general public. - Carries out duties in accordance with PHMC policies and procedures. - Responsible for other related activities, as required. |
