Position Purpose:

This position assists the Director, Strategy & Implementation by providing analytic support to the Investment Strategy team, Market Risk team, and Public Markets External Managers team









Description of Duties:

• Assist with the development and implementation of Investment Strategy
o Help maintain and update Investment Strategy dashboard
o Join debate on views and help drive consensus for views across asset classes and portfolios
o Assist with recommending implementation vehicle/manager for these ideas: internal team, external manager; passive, active; physicals, synthetic
o Help with approval for recommendations as applicable from AAC, AIC, and CIO
o Help oversee externally managed public market investment portfolios as required
o Support lead and asst portfolio manager for allocation designated as Opportunistic
o Help facilitate activity related to evaluating and recommending adjustments to the Strategic Asset Allocation’s targets and ranges stipulated in the Board’s Investment Policy Statement

• Assist the Market Risk team
o Integrate Market Risk perspective and views in all strategy activities and decisions
o Collaborate with Market Risk on measuring, modeling, and monitoring active risk (the various layers), active return (the various layers), total risk, drawdown risk, and liquidity risk
o Collaborate with Market Risk on setting limits for active risk from asset allocation and from portfolio implementation, across the total fund and across the public markets book

• Assist the Public Markets External Manager team
o Perform ongoing monitoring of externally-managed public markets accounts (includes inviting Market Risk and Internal PMs to monitoring calls and meetings)
o Assist in maintaining quantitative manager performance and exposure measurement tools
o Help prepare presentation materials and investment memoranda, including watch list and tear sheets
o Review quarterly and annual financial reports of public markets external managers
o Assist with underwriting /due diligence on prospective new managers
o Attend meetings with public markets external managers
o Assist with sourcing prospective new managers

The employee will work closely with other Investment Professionals and work is performed with the expectation of an increasing degree of independence. Types/level of decision making will depend on the ability and experience of the employee as they learn the internal investment processes.
