Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This internship will provide broad exposure to all aspects of state park operations and management, with more specific experience in environmental education, interpretation, recreation and environmental center operations.
The intern will assist with planning, preparing and teaching programming with ages 3-senior citizens including students, groups and the general public at Presque Isle, Erie Bluffs and the Tom Ridge Environmental Center.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Assist in planning and facilitating DiscoverE camp programs.
Assist in program development and presentations for general public programming on the topics of history, ecology and cultural history.
Present and assist educational lessons using developed lesson plans to school and scout audiences.
Assist with operation and program presentation aboard facility’s pontoon boat.
Assist with equipment and volunteer training necessary for the pontoon boat program’s function.
Organize and classify department/facility’s digital photo collection using a computer and scanner.
Assist with taking photos of programming and organization and storage of these photos.
Assist with special events on the park and outreach events, including development of interactive displays and teaching tools, staffing event learning stations and other duties.
Assist with volunteer trainings, scheduling, data input and process improvements.
Assist with staffing the visitor information desks at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, Public Safety Building and Pontoon Boat Station, including answering questions, sharing information and informing visitors of park rules and facilities.
Attend a weekly meeting of the environmental education staff and park staff and regional meetings as time permits.
Attend appropriate trainings available and relevant to interns.
Prepare written communications such as emails, letters, press releases, posters and advertising materials and assist in disseminating them.
Assist in developing, preparing and installing exhibits in the Tom Ridge Environmental Center.
Assist in staffing the Clean Boat Initiative including organization of materials and interaction with the public.
Participate in a park inspection.
Wear personal protection equipment where required.
Wear provided uniforms during work duties.
Operate a state vehicle from work headquarters to various parks.
Operate a pontoon boat, bicycle, kayak and other recreational equipment.
Assist in field work relevant to projects and research occurring on park sites.
Assist in all recreational and interpretive programming equipment maintenance, preparation and storage.
Assist in social media content and planning including gathering photo images and written texts for postings.
Assist and participate in staff trainings such as safe driving, lifeguard training, pontoon boat training and others.
Propose and complete a significant project that improves programming or processes for the park.
Complete other duties as assigned. Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related duties requested by their supervisor.
