Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The Driver License Examiner Assistant is assigned to a Driver License Center and provides driver licensing services to the public. Work involves mostly counter work with direct contact with customers performing all counter processing functions and driver licensing services and provide support for the Center team. This position works as part of a team and reports directly to the Driver License Center Supervisor.

Examiners Assistants must be capable of performing all counter processing functions, with no more than two exceptions per rating period that require supervisor intervention.

Examiner Assistants have knowledge of and understand the policies and procedures set forth by the Bureau of Driver Licensing.

Demonstrate a basic knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations, which impact the Driver License Program.
Data enters applicants test results and customer applications for driver license services in on-line software systems using a PC terminal.

Independently responds to questions and/or concerns posed by the public. Must be knowledgeable about the services provided and the requirements associated with each service, including but not limited to the minimum requirements to obtain REAL ID or non-REAL ID products.


Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Work involves direct contact with customers by means of verification of applicant identification, completion of application forms, as well as entering information into on-line driver license application software.

Perform all counter processing functions providing all aspects of Driver Licensing Functions.

Have knowledge of and understand the policies and procedures set forth by the Bureau of Driver Licensing.

Have basic knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations, which impact the Driver License Program

Administers standardized knowledge tests to evaluate the applicant's understanding of motor vehicle code, driving laws, and associated traffic control devices.

Perform vision screening exams for visual acuity is given to all applicants using a telebinocular instrument.

Process and verify all customer documents and applications for products issued at Driver Licensing Centers.

Data enters applicant test results and customer applications for driver license services into on-line software systems using a PC terminal.

Strictly adheres to all aspects of Safety Administration Customer Service Policy

Work overtime and travel to other Driver License Centers when needed

Safety: Assess your environment and be responsible for your safety, the safety of co-workers, and the public. Attend required safety training and adhere to the requirements of all safety manuals, policies, and laws. Immediately report to your supervisor any incident, unsafe practice, or near miss. When in an enclosed environment (office buildings, confined spaces, flagger stations, equipment pinch points, etc.), know your evacuation process and escape route, your communication protocols, and appropriately react in the event of an incident. Promote a Culture that emphasizes Safety as a core value and immediately stop all unsafe actions.

Organizing and maintaining a clean and accessible work area at all times.

Performs other related duties as required.

The Drivers License Examiner Assistant is assigned to a Driver License Center that provides driver licensing and associated services to the public. Work involves greeting customers professionally, direct contact with customers by means of verification of applicant identification, completion of application forms, as well as entering information into on-line driver license application software. Disseminates applicable forms and informational brochures based on customer need.

Administers standardized knowledge tests to evaluate the applicant’s understanding of motor vehicle code, driving laws, and associated traffic control devices. A vision screening for visual acuity is given to all applicants using a telebinocular instrument.

Data enters applicants test results and customer applications for driver license services in on-line software systems using a PC terminal.

Provides customers with information or services relating to driver’s license or identification card renewals, duplicates, out-of-state transfers, obtaining a Motorcycle license, obtaining and maintaining a CDL, be familiar with the carious commercial license restrictions and endorsements and the requirements for each.

Produces Restoration Requirements Letters upon request for customers appearing in person.

Responsible for ensuring that the correct fee waiver code is used, and properly documented whenever a fee waiver is necessary to process a customer transaction. Complies with all aspects of the Fee Waiver Guidelines.

Strictly adheres to all aspects of Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Service Policy

Correctly process and abide by all REAL ID regulations

Issues and scans Non-Native Born US Citizen/Non-US Citizen Courtesy Form – Additional Information Required to Process (DL-160) as required to customers.

Adhere to and understands all Title VI requirements as it relates to job functions and customer service.

Administer Knowledge Tests either electronically or verbally and Eye Test Examination and process test results.

Evaluate US and Immigration Documentation for validity, irregularities and possible fraud.

Review and verify all required documentation for customer’s eligible for receipt of products issued at the Driver Licensing Center.

Administer knowledge tests and eye test and process the results.
