Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

To assist park staff in various projects while gaining experience in park operations, resource management, and environmental education. This is a temporary position within the Bureau of State Parks at Cook Forest State Park Complex.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Assist environmental education staff with recreational and educational programs and park events.

Participate in invasive treatments to control hemlock woolly adelgid and other invasive plants.

Support campground operations and assist campground hosts as needed.

Learn the operation of the park’s reservation system to process reservations and POS items.

Gain experience in the maintenance field by assisting staff with basic repairs, general landscaping, and other projects.

Assist in the rehabilitation of park trails to improve navigability and address erosion issues.

Provide visitor assistance and direct questions to the appropriate staff member regarding park recreational opportunities, natural features, facilities, and park rules and regulations.

Operate phone and two-way radio to communicate with staff and assist general public.


Attend Commonwealth training and other meetings.

Other tasks as assigned.
