Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Inspects establishments, such as wholesale and retail establishments for proper permits, recordkeeping, and training for spotted lanternfly. Inspects non-agricultural settings for spotted lanternfly and compliance with regulations. Assists regional inspectors in implementing and conducting plant pest surveys to determine extent and severity and to determine the best control options. Collects and submits samples of plant pest organisms for laboratory identification in accordance with established protocols. Determines compliance through direct observation and comparison to established labeling, licensing, recordkeeping, and training. Submits reports with results of inspections and recommendations to the Plant Inspection Program Specialist. Provides information regarding proper recordkeeping. Reviews consumer complaints regarding Spotted Lanternfly movement on products and collects samples for departmental laboratory analysis. Removes commodities from sale if they are infested by plant pests. Assists operations program with trapping, survey, and treatment of spotted lanternfly. Proctors Spotted Lanternfly certification exams. Makes pesticide applications to control pests associated with plant protection programs. Operates a motor vehicle. Performs related work as required. Maintains knowledge of the principles of pest management. 13. Maintain knowledge of normal plant physiology and physiological disorders. 14. Read and interpret agricultural and agronomic standards of quality, purity, and sanitation. 15. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. |
