Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Purpose of this position is to have the account updated to the most accurate possible. To ensure all earnings, hours, contributions reported equal to the class and category the members position is/was in is accurate. Make necessary adjustment to ensure the members are receiving the most accurate Retirement Benefit, prior to retiring. This position specializes in Defined Contribution Accounts as well as Defined Benefit Accounts. This is a Specialized professional and technical position primarily responsible for a full account overview. This position manually modifies each account for accuracy and conformance. While also making the appropriate adjustments prior to Retirement Processing. This position notified appropriate parties of any changes made. (Included but not limited to, service, hours, statements) This position must have a detail-oriented individual who can find even the slightest change and question it. These types of changes normally result in an adjustment. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Maintenance of Active and all other status members (More than 100k members). As well as but not limited to: Analyzing Complex member financial data Demographic Data posted to member accounts. Election changes Multiple service member Daily reports With every account, research is required in addition to performing an adjustment or update at the direction of others within the office of Member Services. This position is responsible for all adjustments as well as verifying member account adjustments, included but not limited to, Service Credit, Earnings, Hours, Interest, Contributions, Debts, Name Corrections, Date of birth Corrections, etc. It is also not limited to active/non active/Retired accts. This position requires the restructuring of Member Accounts included but not limited to, creation of accounts, adjustment of accounts, return to service (annuitant or settlement due to arbitration/grievance). Reviewing Service class/category and the appropriate breakdown of member monies by tax type. In addition, interpretation of the State Employees’ Retirement Code, rules and regulations, court orders and or legal opinion as they apply is a necessary requirement. This position is responsible for the calculation of member contributions, interest, and service for members from the effective date of membership through specified dates provided with Divorce proceedings. The information is provided to Retirement Counselors to incorporate into retirement calculations. Accuracy of this date is a vital part of processing, and should the member proceed with divorce proceedings, this information determines the extent to which a member is financially responsible to pay to the former spouse in the event the member retires. This position is responsible for the research/inquiry/adjustments of member/agency inquiries concerning incorrect financial and/or demographic information contained thereon. The research could result in the adjustment of a member record and the subsequent written notification that will later need to be mailed to the member with a corrected statement. We research all member accounts prior to retirement/furloughs to ensure the accuracy of class, category, and coverage as well as the correct calculation of service credits by job classification (Class and Category). This position also provides the same type fo research on accounts as warranted by legislative changes/downsizing by employers. Prepare original correspondence and verbal responses to legislators, attorneys, agency personnel, controller, internal Agency Personnel, Operations, Help desk, Office of Administration, etc. Via Verbal or written, we are references issues that are routine or non-routine as they pertain to the State Employees’ Retirement System. In this position, you will assist in work within all units of the Division during time sof significant backlog or special projects. Included but not limited to Process redesigns, reconciliation, legislative proposals, etc. All related duties that are assigned or required, are to be completed. |

Incumbents will review and analyze complex member accounts to determine accuracy and correctness. Initiate, process, verify complex accounts and make manual changes to accounts if/when needed. As well as updating demographic data posted to member accounts to determine footprint eligibility. Creates or adjusts member accounts because of a return to service of an annuitant or the settlement of an arbitration or grievance and determine retroactive market-based applications to defined contribution accounts.
