Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position, in the Bureau of Medical Marijuana, will serve as the Compliance Reviewer in the Product Compliance and Research Division (PCARD). The position reports directly to the manager of the PCARD team and will work closely with the entire PCARD team as well as department legal counsel. The Medical Marijuana Program was established by the Medical Marijuana Act of 2016. A Medical Marijuana Organization (MMO) is a dispensary, or a grower/processor permitted to operate within the medical marijuana program. The position supports the program’s mission of providing access to medical marijuana for patients with a serious medical condition through a safe and effective method of delivery that balances patient need for access to the latest treatments with patient care and safety. The position will coordinate department review of required approvals for MMO medical marijuana products, marketing and promotional materials, packaging and labeling and more. They also analyze current operational procedures and make recommendations for improvements. |
Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Compliance Reviewer Duties Provides guidance and technical assistance to MMOs regarding interpretation of program requirements, and coordination of program delivery related to required department approvals of medical marijuana products, packaging/labeling requests and marketing/promotional materials. Communicates program policies and standards, including various regulatory requirements, to MMOs related to product, packaging/labeling requests and marketing/promotional material approvals. Maintains the Bureau's compliance resource email account to efficiently and timely receive, file, and respond to MMO inquiries for all matters related to program compliance, especially product packaging/labeling requests and marketing/promotional material approvals. Acts independently on routine matters such as necessary follow up with MMO requests; forwards inquiries for review as needed to other areas of the compliance team. In consultation with the PCARD manager, reviews product, packaging/labeling requests and marketing/promotional approval requests submitted to the compliance resource account by MMOs and appropriately responds to the MMO conveying the department’s position on the submission. Researches medical marijuana product industry trends when necessary. Applies standardized review of product approval submissions based on statute and regulation, including the use of federal databases related to food and drug administration. Analyzes program processes and trending concerns from MMOs and develops recommendations for upgrades or improvements. Investigates and resolves issues involving MMO compliance related to product, packaging/labeling requests and marketing/promotional material approvals and forwards for review with supervisor as needed. Develops and maintains a variety of databases and spreadsheets. Maintains quality interpersonal relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Follows all protocols to ensure proper handling of confidential materials. Public Health Emergency Response – This position may be given an assignment to support the public health emergency response mission of the Department of Health. Emergency assignments could at times be received with little or no advance notice and may continue for any period of time – ranging from a few hours to several weeks, depending upon the nature of the circumstance. The emergency assignments may at times be performed under adverse conditions and may require travel to another site other than the employee’s assigned headquarters for periods of time. |
