Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position will assist in a variety of forest management and recreation projects. This position will assist with regeneration projects, invasive species treatments, and timber management projects that are essential to achieving the Bureau of Forestry's goals. This position will participate in a gate and lock reconciliation project. This position will also assist with the collection of GPS data that is critical for the completion of the Bureau's Resource Plan and Landscape Exams. GPS survey data will be incorporated into a GIS system to be used in planning management of the State Forest Land.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

The worker in this position must be able to operate a GPS survey unit and be able to interpret maps to collect accurate GPS data of State Forest Land features. Roads, trails, boundary lines and corners, gates, buildings, and other features need to be surveyed, and transferred into the bureau’s FIMS system.

The worker in this position must be proficient in notetaking and data entry. The ability to gather data and prepare reports is critical to the completion of the recreation program updates and gate survey.

The worker must be able to transverse steep and rocky terrain and be able to work independently.

The worker may be called upon to assist foresters and other staff members with outdoor projects relating to timber management and regeneration projects.

All work will be assigned and reviewed by the Forest Assistant Manager in McConnellsburg, and work decisions should be referred to the supervisor.
