Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. This position coordinates and estimates projects and supervises and participates in the operation of light and heavy equipment required for the Sustainable Range Program (SRP) Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) section at Fort Indiantown Gap (FTIG). Some vehicles are in excess of 32,001 lbs. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Maintains training lands, firing ranges, trails, and other features, and performs other related activities for the Training Center Directorate of Plans, Operations, Training, and Security, Range Maintenance Section. Supervises and operates various large equipment including tractors with attachments, tractors and trailers, graders, bulldozers, pans, bucket loaders, track and wheeled loaders, fork lifts, track hoes, backhoes, dump trucks, hydroseeders, chipper/mulchers, and rollers. Ensures the safe operation of equipment including around live overhead and buried utilities. Maintains knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions for the operation of heavy equipment around utilities. Coordinates, supervises, and directs troop labor efforts for projects conducted by National Guard and by Army Reserve engineer personnel as necessary throughout the year. Advises the supervisor and Sustainable Range Program leads on maintenance and construction needs for trails in the FTIG training corridor, to include preventive maintenance, snow removal needs, drainage, reclamation and unit damage repair, and other needs. Develops work plans to include timeliness, equipment, and resources needed for individual and combined task projects. Develops the same products for future and anticipated need projects. Attends coordination meetings with SRP staff for internal deconfliction and equipment sharing. Supervises and participate in range and training land activities such as target berm repair through dirt and seeding, drainage ditch maintenance and repair, drainage pipe installation to avoid erosion damage, brush clearing, invasive plant removal, and other tasks as required to maintain ranges and training land availability and functionality. Supervises and participates in needs assessment, design, construction, maintenance, and prioritization of erosion and sedimentation control best management practice structures. Supervises and participates in grass cutting on established training corridor helicopter land zones. Reads prints and uses transit or lock levels, and performs project estimation for labor, materials, equipment, and supplies. Operates and supervises the use of hand and power tools including chainsaws. Ensures all safety policies are followed and that personal protective equipment worn by all supervised staff as necessary. Enforces and follows all safety policies and postings. Ensures supervised staff avoids hazardous areas including those involving live fire and ordnance. Completes all needed reports such as material usage sheets and daily employee sheets. Ensures all equipment is inspected and maintained as required. Supervises and participates in military maneuver damage assessment and repair. Operates hydroseeding equipment as a member of a hydroseeding team. Maintains and operates an issued hand radio in accordance with installation standard procedures. Participates in meetings as required. Performs all work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; or, immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area and reports same to the supervisor. Performs other related duties as required. *Requires Class A CDL with tank endorsement and airbrake restriction removed.* |
