Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Claims Management & Advocacy: Manage a caseload of veteran claims from initial application to final determination. Serve as a key point of contact for veterans seeking assistance. Serve as an advocate for veterans and their beneficiaries, guiding them through the claims process for all available state and federal benefits. Prepare and submit applications, ensuring they meet statutory requirements, and provide high-quality representation throughout the claims and appeals process. Conduct interviews to develop claims. Correspond with medical and other professionals to gather necessary evidence. Review all United States Department of Veteran Affairs (USDVA) decisions to ensure veterans receive maximum benefit attainment. Prepare appeal cases and represent claimants before the Board of Veterans Appeals. Regional Outreach & Community Engagement: Travel extensively within a designated region to conduct outreach, provide marketing strategy inputs, attend events, and collaborate with community partners. Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, veterans' organizations, and local government agencies to promote and deliver veterans' services. Plan and participate in mobile outreach services and public events to reach veterans in underserved areas. Disseminate information through various channels, including mail, telephone, and electronic means, and work with the agency Communications Office on publicity efforts. Speak to community groups to raise awareness about veterans' benefits and programs. Program Development & Administration: Collaborate with Regional Program Outreach Coordinators (RPOCs) to identify and address new veteran service needs. Maintain accurate program databases and records of all contacts and service providers. Contribute to the development of program websites, event calendars, and educational materials. Provide input and advice on legislative issues impacting veterans in the assigned region. Performs other related duties as required. POST EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT: Valid accreditation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a veterans service officer or eligibility for accreditation within one year from date of employment. |
