Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Serves as an advisor to fire and emergency services establishments, providing direction and training to support operations.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

1. Assist the program administrator with creating, updating, and maintaining the Recruitment and Retention program documents to include written reports to assist in policy and procedure making decisions, develop and maintain desk manual process documents, and maintain and make recommendations for changes in program and/or system databases.

2. Assist with preparing informational documents, various types of reports and presentations for advisory members, veterans affairs committee, fire commissioner, legislative affairs, legal counsel, and in response to other informational inquiries.

3. Assist with preparing/prepares, develops, organizes, and conducts specialized training programs and/or presentation of materials related to specific areas of the recruitment and retention program.

4. Educates consumers, emergency response personnel and organizations at various levels, including local and state elected officials

5. Answers inquiries from constituents concerning recruitment and retention initiatives, programs, and resources. Upon request prepares documents and reports for dissemination.

6. Prepares plans for a program or population for fire service coverage in a particular area, such as resource allocations, staffing and administrative models, levels of classifications and training, financial/non-financial incentive programs, and collaboration and partnerships at local and state levels.

7. Assist with overseeing special projects for recruitment and retention as assigned by the program administrator.

8. Maintains specific databases relevant to the recruitment and retention program, including preparing and recommending changes for data collection instruments, collection processes and assuring uniformity.

9. Conducts research, gathers data, and statistical and financial analysis to evaluate programs and make recommendation for use and/or improvements to programs.

10. Identifies and/or researches information, prepares written report/presentation/informational packet/plan for facilitation of discussions for Fire and EMS organizations of various structure, location and type and other state and local government and other agencies.

11. Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars and promotes the Office of the State Fire Commissioners Recruitment and Retention program as assigned.

Issues of a sensitive nature or involving other aspects of program functions are discussed with the supervisor or another member of management in the absence of supervisor.
