Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position assists an instrument man or is a rodman on survey corps in the area of mining with emphasis on projects involving acid mine drainage, underground mine fires, refuse pile fires, reclamation of surface mines and problems arising from subsidence. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Assists in the operation of total station, EDM, theodolite, transit, level and other survey instruments to obtain necessary survey data. Assists in the operation of high accuracy geospatial radio, receiver, controller and base station. Uses survey software to create control reports and compute coordinates, elevations, angles and distances. Records, calculates and checks field notes. Makes field trips to county courthouses to obtain necessary project information, such as surface and mineral ownerships, deed descriptions, etc. Maintains and stores equipment properly. Promotes the Department's mission. Inputs appropriate data in a prescribed format to meet data quality standards set forth by guidance, training, and policy across all of DEP’s electronic data systems; to include ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries, and where available, the use of system specific tools to ensure duplicative entries and data quality issues are minimized.
