Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The Intermediate Investment Professional will assist with monitoring compliance with laws and regulations that impact PSERS Investment Office. The individual in this position will serve as a primary back-up for monitoring compliance with investment portfolio guidelines for internal and external investment managers, investment-related Board and staff policies. In performing the duties for this position, the individual will focus on leveraging automation and technology to enhance program effectiveness. This position reports directly to the Investment Compliance Manager and will operate with some independence and authority for a variety of investment related responsibilities of a moderately complex nature. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. • Assist with the development and implementation of comprehensive investment compliance and monitoring work plans, that integrate risk assessments with a compliance focus. Leverage innovative technologies to enhance effectiveness. The investment compliance and monitoring work plans are based on the Board of Trustees adopted investment-related policies, investment office staff policies, and investment portfolio guidelines. • Conduct compliance reviews in accordance with established monitoring plans. • Assist in reporting compliance review results to stakeholders. • Proactively identify compliance issues. Exercise sound judgement while escalating significant matters to the Investment Compliance Manager. • Assist with developing presentations for the Board of Trustees. • Support the management of investment compliance programs through the strategic use of technology. • Help maintain the Investment Compliance Manual. • Write compliance rules within the automated compliance monitoring system. • Maintain and test investment-related compliance rule updates in the automated compliance monitoring system. • Assist with compliance guidance to senior leadership and management teams, including risk assessments. • Assist with monitoring and analyzing regulatory changes affecting financial and public pension fund sectors. • Remain current on industry trends and emerging best practices in investment compliance, with a focus on leveraging automation and technology to enhance program effectiveness. • Assist with designing and facilitating training sessions on trading policy restrictions as defined in investment policies and relevant legal and regulatory standards. Lead periodic compliance meetings to enhance cross-team awareness and ensure consistent adherence to established guidelines. • Support investment policy and guideline development in collaboration with the investment and risk teams. • Assist with special projects and contribute to broader Investment Office initiatives as required. |
