Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Maintains cleanliness and replenishes supplies in various areas of Northwest Office Building during day shift.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Performs custodial operations for the Northwest Office Building and its surrounding facilities and grounds to promote a safe and efficient working environment.

Acts in compliance with Agency standards and safety regulations.

Complies with established biohazard safety protocols.

Responds to emergencies that require the efforts of the Maintenance Division. Serves on the Northwest Office Building’s Fire Safety Team in a capacity determined by the Building Fire Marshal. Attends Fire Safety and other trainings as directed.

Cleans and disinfects stairwells. Handrails, walls, landings and steps.

Cleans and disinfects tables, counter tops and chairs.

Opens garage door for city garbage truck and DGS recycle trucks for trash and recyclable material removal.

Operates a 2500 pound capacity electric forklift to load/unload heavy items.

Cleans the Retail Education Center located in rooms 510 and 511. Empties trash cans, spit containers and opened wine bottles. Washes glasses and spit containers. Cleans tables, chairs, cabinet glass doors, window blinds, and window sills. Vacuums floor and empties trash cans.

Cleans 5th floor boardroom; vacuums floor, empties trash cans, cleans glass.

Cleans all Mechanical rooms; dry and wet mops floors, empties trash cans, dusts surfaces.

Dusts furniture, equipment and horizontal surfaces; uses a ladder to clean hard to reach areas.

Washes walls and partitions.

Washes or cleans Venetian blinds, as required.

Cleans glass surfaces.

Washes windows.

Empties waste receptacles and replaces liners. Collects trash and takes it to appropriate location to await pick-up.

Lifts trash barrels weighing up to 60 pounds.

Pushes recyclable paper barrels weighing up to 60 pounds around various areas throughout the Northwest Office Building.

Cleans and polishes wood and metal furniture. Cleans and polishes brass, chrome, aluminum and other metal surfaces.

Sweeps floors utilizing treated floor cloths, brooms and vacuum cleaners.

Mops, strips and waxes floors utilizing mops, buckets, mop carts, floor machines and/or automatic scrubbers.

Cleans and disinfects restrooms and fixtures. Fills dispensers and stocks with supplies as needed.

Applies insecticide to various areas as directed.

Applies ice-melting chemicals to icy pavements and entrances.

Removes snow and ice from walkways and entrances by use of shovels, scrapers, and/or mechanical equipment.

Sweeps and washes pavements.

Empties outdoor ash receptacles, waste receptacles and replaces liners. Picks up litter from planting areas, gutters and sidewalks. Collects trash and takes it to appropriate location to await pick-up.

Removes weeds and other plants from sidewalks and gutters.

Keeps all tools and equipment clean and performs minor maintenance to custodial machinery and equipment.

Reports needed maintenance repairs to supervisor.

Delivers supplies and runs errands as incidental assignments.

Moves office furniture and equipment of varying weight.

Operates floor scrubber to clean garage floor, also uses floor dusting dry mop and shop vacuum before running the floor scrubber.

Maintains the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the PLCB fleet vehicles.

Performs other related duties as required.

Decision Making:

Directly supervised through written schedules or verbal instructions. Reports observed safety hazards, needed repairs or unscheduled work to supervisor for action. Follows manufacturer instructions for operation of all equipment and the use of chemicals and cleaning products. Work is reviewed by inspection while in progress and/or upon completion of assigned duties.
