Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position is located within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' Communications Office and reports directly to the Communications Director 3. The incumbent is responsible for performing public relations and strategic communications work to support the communication of the strategic initiatives and mission of the Department. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Specific duties: Prepares a wide variety of media to be used in presentation of informational and educational material in and organization that welcomes and educates a diversity of Pennsylvania residents and out-of-state visitors at more than one hundred locations across the Commonwealth. Assists the Director of Communications in planning, organizing, and coordinating the agency’s communications strategy. Assists the Director of Communications with executing long and short-term communications plans for the department. Helps to coordinate and oversee a common creative aesthetic for the agency, works amongst communications and digital teams and agency leadership to implement this common branding and aesthetic throughout agency properties. Prepares information of high visibility and impact including talking points, news releases, advisories, op-eds, letters to the editor, and memos; social media and digital content including infographics; television, radio, and film scripts; and brochures, pamphlets, reports, publications, and similar written material. Edits copy prepared by others. Writes speeches or talking points for the Secretary or other top agency officials. Assists in the development and implementation of media events including news conferences, ground breakings and ribbon cuttings, and tours and availabilities. Helps acquire and maintain photographic files regarding agency activities. Performs other related work as assigned. |
