Position Purpose:

Supervises and participates in the PA State Police’s enlisted testing and placement activities.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

40% Oversees the State Police Cadet and Liquor Enforcement Officer Trainee placement programs by providing guidance in applicable procedures, reviewing the recommendations of Polygraph Examiners as well as Background Investigation Screening and Appeal Panels. Makes recommendations regarding approval or disapproval of auto disqualifications for polygraphs and backgrounds. Oversees the coordination and administration of Physical Readiness Testing as well as medical and psychological screenings for Applicants.

40% Oversees placement activities such as preference transfers, general transfers, hardship transfers, temporary transfers, transfer travel requests, and promotions for the ranks of Troopers, Corporals, Sergeants, and Lieutenants.

5% Oversees the placement of LEOTs to LEOs and associated transactions.

5% Conducts special studies or projects and responds to inquiries from within and outside of the Department through the analysis of procedures and data.

5% Prepares a myriad of ad hoc reports using MS Access, Excel and Word; SAP, IRIS, and HRIS (HR Information Systems).

5% Performs other related duties as assigned.

This position develops, directs and makes recommendations on the Cadet and Liquor Enforcement Officer Trainee Selection Programs as well as the Enlisted placement actions as they are inherent to the Pennsylvania State Police. This position requires independence and initiative in determining the best course of action to achieve appropriate outcomes. Incidents/situations that have significant Departmental impact or are highly unusual in nature are discussed with the supervisor.
