Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is located in the Acid Mine Division of the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation, Cambria District Office, and reports to the Supervisor of the Acid Mine Drainage Operations Section. Responsible charge oversight of engineering work is provided and reviewed by Craig R. Treese, P.E., Civil Engineer Manager.

Generally, this position provides assistance to staff engineers on field investigations in the evaluations of active and passive treatment systems.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

All work performed by you will be reviewed by your immediate Manager, Craig R. Treese, P.E., Civil Engineer Manager.

Assists engineers of BAMR in the Cambria Office in performing the following duties:

Routine monitoring, inspecting and evaluating active and passive treatment systems.

Performing required maintenance to active and passive treatment systems.

Obtaining field measurements, collecting water samples and testing water for pH, temperature and conductivity for existing treatment systems or planned projects.

Performing stream assessments, wetland delineations, wetland monitoring and processing data collected.

Performing or reviewing design calculations and estimates for construction, operational or maintenance costs.

Reviewing BAMR and consultant design plans and specifications for new treatment systems or for rehabilitations, modifications or services needed to existing treatment systems.

Utilizing basic computer software such as spreadsheets, databases, and/or engineering software to assist in the tracking and analyzing of treatment systems and features. Assists staff in data entry for water samples and compiling spreadsheets for data entry. Assists in entering project or site information into the Department’s eFACTS database system.

Promotes the Department's mission.

Inputs appropriate data in a prescribed format to meet data quality standards set forth by guidance, training, and policy across all of DEP’s electronic data systems; to include ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries, and where available, the use of system specific tools to ensure duplicative entries and data quality issues are minimized.
