Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position is located in the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation, Cambria District Office, and reports to the Supervisor of the AMD Project Design Section. Responsible charge oversight of engineering technical work is provided and reviewed by Thomas Sossong, P.E., Environmental Engineer Manager, in accordance with Act 367, Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law. Generally, this position provides design and drafting assistance to BAMR design staff to design an acid mine drainage remediation and abandoned mine land projects. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. All work performed by you will be reviewed by your immediate manager, Thomas Sossong, P.E., Environmental Engineer Manager, in accordance with Act 367, Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law. Assists project designers with collecting field information including water, mine spoil, coal refuse sampling and measurements of pipes, culverts and stream flows. Also, utilizes the principles of environmental/mining engineering, geology, mine design, mine and plane surveying, hydraulics, soils engineering, civil engineering, and other engineering methods to assist design staff in determining design methods and calculations needed to solve acid mine drainage remediation and abandoned mine land problems. Assists staff in completing project designs for submission to the Department’s Construction Contracts Section for project issue and award. Design submissions include contract drawings, technical specifications, special requirements and cost estimated. Utilizes basic computer software, such as spreadsheets, databases, and/or engineering software to assist in design calculations, including earthwork, hydrology and hydraulic calculations. Assists in entering project design information into the Department’s eFACTS database system. Promotes the Department’s mission. Inputs appropriate data in a prescribed format to meet data quality standards set forth by guidance, training, and policy across all of DEP’s electronic data systems; to include ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries, and where available, the use of system specific tools to ensure duplicative entries and data quality issues are minimized.
