Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position requires the applicant to answer calls and emails concerning the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) policy, eligibility, and procedures. The Energy Assistance Worker (EAW) will provide technical assistance on the Commonwealth of PA Access to Social Services (COMPASS) website and MyCOMPASS PA mobile application to those applying for LIHEAP online. In addition to connecting citizens to other community resources that may assist or supplement available services when a household is not eligible for LIHEAP, has exhausted their LIHEAP benefit, or has an extraordinary need that we cannot meet.

Constantly answer phone calls.

Constantly communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, clients, and public.

Constantly obtain and evaluate information to confirm eligibility or ineligibility for LIHEAP benefits.

Frequently interacts with employees, customers and management while frequently simultaneously utilizing various computer applications.

Frequently uses computer applications to generate written communication by utilizing forms, memos, emails, etc.

Operates various types of office equipment such as; but not limited to, personal computers, copy machines, telephones, etc.

Frequently perform mathematical calculations to confirm eligibility for LIHEAP.

Constantly learn and appropriately apply policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to LIHEAP programs.

Frequently learn job related materials through various media and teaching methods.

Constantly interact objectively and with sensitivity to employees, applicants, customers, management in stressful or difficult situations.

Assigned work duties are performed in a controlled office environment or a telework site.

Frequently-constantly, sitting on a chair for extended periods of time.

Constantly interact objectively with sensitivity to employees, applicants, and management in potentially stressful situations and settings by providing information and referrals appropriate to the nature of their needs.

Responsible to review e-mail and What's New for updates or information.

WORK CONDITIONS

Upon completion of a six-month probation period, you may have the opportunity to work from home (telework). Approval will be made in compliance with contract language. To telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
